Our first time in PC, we find the Chateau on tripadvisor. Turned out to be a nice place to stay, just a short walk to the Park City ski resort. Very friendly staff there, thanks Ed and Jason. A real bargain in Park City, which used to be quite expensive in lodging. No luxury there, two beds, a couch, a TV, a clean bathroom, plus a basic breakfast, but you can store everything in the fridge if you like. No doubt, we will came back. Only a 10 minute walk to main street.

My wife and I really enjoyed Park City. The skiing was good. The nightlife was fun, especially on Main Street. The Chateau Apres was a great place to stay because it made it possible to pay for a ski pass. I enjoyed to fact that it was not a “chain” hotel, but instead a place with character. The staff was pleasant and they had a great continental breakfast. It was a great 4 days.

I recommend this place “for the guys.” An excellent lodge location with clean rooms and no frills. The staff was friendly (and cute) and responsive. If you’re a foodie, connoisseur, or cognoscenti (or even know what those words mean), go somewhere else. This place is for serious skiing with convenience when you’re not looking to break the bank. I’ll be going back next year with my buddies. (I would not bring my girlfriend/wife.) Frankly, this place was a nice break from the corporate comforts offered by chains. I felt as if I was staying in Park City during the 70′s (which was fun).

Chateau Apres Lodge has a perfect location. A 5 min walk to the chair lift, you can take the shuttle to go downtown ( 10 minutes). Nothing fancy about the room but it has enough room and comfort for a great night of sleep after a day of ski. Staff is very friendly, breakfast is good. Overall very great price for great location in Park City. We paid $100/nite breakfast included. Can’t beat that in Park City. Would definitely go back!

The hotel is exactly as shown on the website. Very clean, very cheap, amazing location, and a serious ski hotel. Remember this is not the marriott in park city or the hotel park city it is a hotel for serious skiers looking for value and location NOT a beautiful room or facilities. The hotel is NOT a chain and that is what makes it fun to stay at. they have a nice little breakfast again not the buffet at the marriott so dont expect it. overall a great ski hotel i had a great time
6-Excellent for the price!
My husband and I stayed here in February 2009, and we loved it. The staff is great, hearty continental breakfast and you can’t beat the location, walking distance to the slopes! It’s not fancy, but comfortable, clean and friendly.
7-Hail Hosenfeld!
I was swept away with manager jason hosenfelds knowledge of the local resorts and hot spots. This quaint hotel has little to offer posh park city travelers. But, we’re here to ski and have a good time. And Chateau Apres will be our lodge in Park City from here on!!!

In Short
This genial, casual inn features both private and dormitory rooms in a superb location for a very reasonable price. Complimentary breakfast is served in a dining room retro-adorned with red vinyl chairs. The central fireplace in the informal lobby is the perfect place to gather for those who take their après ski more seriously than their actual skiing. The whole scene is reminiscent of ski lodges from a bygone era.

Cheap, clean and right at the foot of Park City Mountain Resort. Park City needs more affordable places like this! The service was personal and the experience was great. I would and will return.
10-Fodor’s Review:
Just 150 yards from Park City Mountain Resort, this classic skiers’ lodge has been run by the Hosenfeld family since 1963. The rooms aren’t fancy, but they’re clean and the service is as friendly as you’ll find anywhere. You can choose one queen or a double and a twin. Or, if privacy isn’t a must, you can rent a bed in the dorm room for $35 a night, which also includes the Continental breakfast. Pros: Comfortable, inexpensive place for outdoor enthusiasts to crash. Longtime local owners. Cons: If you’re looking for cushy pampering or fancy eggs-benedict breakfasts, look elsewhere.
11-A Bargain outstanding for Park City Posted by emt_ii from upstate new York on 10/31/07
The location is great close to a Park City lift and an easy walk to the shuttle bus to other areas. The feel is of an old-fasion ski lodge. The staff is friendly and helpful and the price can’t be beat. I’ll keep coming back.
12-I wanted to extend my thanks for another amazing visit this past week to the Chateau Apres Lodge. I feel so grateful to have found such wonderful accommodations during my annual visit to Park City for the Sundance Film Festival. Thanks to you and Ed for being such great guys, and accommodating and upgrading the room for my cousin and myself, from a single to a double room. Your thoughtfulness, care, and hospitality have once again well exceeded my expectations. If you’re ever passing through Denver, feel free to give me a call. I am looking forward to seeing you again soon.
Wishing you the very best.
Always,
Chris Dodge
13-Just wanted to say thank you and your family for a nice experience staying
as a guest at Chateau Apres last week. My friend Kelly and I enjoyed your
hospitality and the general friendly environment–such a welcome contrast to
the sterile condo scene that is sadly common at ski resorts.
Anyway, I’m back in my fluorescent-lit office in Times Square, sitting in my
cubicle, but I’m dreaming of the slopes!
Hope to see you next year!
Best,
Joyce Mulvaney
14-We enjoyed our stay very much. The room was clean. The breakfast was just
right with cereal, muffins, toast with peannut butter, coffee and juice. The
location was perfect for the ski areas and the Sundance film festival. The
bus stop was close if you needed to get to other places around town such as
Deer valley and Canyons. Everything worked well for us. We were looking for
reasonable price room that was clean and had a breakfast of some kind near
Main St. The staff was helpful. We feel if you are a skier and want a good,
clean place without all the fluff this is it!!!

15-We have been coming to Utah on ski trips for years. We love staying at the Chateau Apres. The other Park City Hotels have not character compared to this hotel. The location is great so we don’t have to try to drive and park. The location is so good we don’t even have to rent a car! I will always spend Christmas at the Chateau in
Park City. -Maggie K.
16-The very best hotel that I’ve stayed at in Park City. Great Service!
- Jeremy M.
17-Very clean & excellent front desk service. Two of my sons also stayed & we agree that this is a great Park City Hotel

18-A nice place, very very cheap hotel for park city (reasonably priced), and after a five crossing day over the USA, this was a great place to stop and spend a day. – unknown
Great Hotel, great price. -Scott Solinko
19-Marvelously comfortable lobby, we love the fire. It was a great atmosphere and a reasonably hotel priced hotel for park city hotel. And this location is beautiful. We took a drive around. Lovely ranches – horses – cattle. – Rosedale
20-Great service. Very clean and comfortable. Keep it up. I will recommend this to anyone looking for a hotel in park city. – Rick M.
21-The Chateau Apres was a great place to stay for a week long ski vacation. The location was as good as it gets. The free breakfast and reasonable rooms made it possible to spend 60+ dollars on a lift ticket. The snow was great too!! I enjoyed the hands on service by the owners themselves and the cozy Euro-style Chateau was the best find in Ritzy Park City. – Steve J.
22-I stayed here in February 2002! I had a great time. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The dorms are simple but uncrowded so you have a lot of space to yourself and you will meet friends like I did. Give it a try! -Tom T.
23-I was looking for a cheap hotel in park city. I stayed in the dorms and saved enough to stay an extra week! I would recommend this to anybody looking for a cheap hotel in park city. The snow is great in Utah – Scott O.
24-Nicest people we’ve ever ran into after many softball nationals over the years! Loved Park City and the Olympic park – McMillen
This hotel was an absolute pleasure to stay in. We could not ask for more friendliness or hospitality. If we come this way again we would definitely stay here. – Cheri C.
Cheap and nice. A great Park City Hotel. –Steve S.
25-I was there January 2003 and had a delightful time. First I stayed in the hostel part, then moved to a private room. Everyone was very warm and attentive and I felt as if staying with family. Hope to come back soon. -Colleen H.
Here is a comment from some people who stayed with us in a large group.
26-To: Ed, Susan and Jason,
Thank you! Thank you. Just a short note to express our appreciation for your generosity in openning your lodge to “the group” in December of this and pass years. Were always amazed how you roll and duck with the punches and come up smiling. Hope to see you in March- shoulder willing. The special touches by you and your family, ie: cakes and homemade soups along with the culinary expertise of the chef and cook are above and beyond. HAPPY HOLIDAYS, Dave and Barbara

I stayed in a dorm room, the rooms were exactly as pictured in the website. It wasn’t cheap for a 26 person dorm $48USD but considering it was the busiest time of year i.e Sundance Film Festival. It was definitely worth it though, 2 min walk to the ski lifts, 1 min walk to the free town buses which take you to all the cinemas and other ski resorts.
The staff were genuinely friendly, free communal computer with internet, free breakfast in the morning and free warm apple cider in the evening, the lodge is also quite charming.
“Great value, great location”
Chateau Apres is an excellent 2 1/2 star hotel. It is a chalet, similar to what one would find in Europe. We arrived at about 10 pm at night…check-in was a breeze. There were plastic bags of three chocolate chip cookies that we purchased for a $1.
Location: The chateau is a 5 minute walk to the Park City Ski Resort. You just had to walk up some stairs to get to the road where the resort is located. It’s about a 5 minute drive to Main Street.
Room: The room is basic. It has a bed, a couch, a dresser, and a television. The television had cable. The bed was a double bed…nothing special, but comfortable enough. The bathroom was tiny, with a very tiny shower. The shower was clean. The water was a bit undependable…it was hard to get a comfortable temperature.
Parking: There are several parking spaces located in front of the chateau. One evening we came back late, and there were no parking spaces. The hotel gave us a sign to put up in our car, and we parked about a block away.
This place is not a four star hotel, and one shouldn’t expect it to be for the price we paid. It is a great value for a hotel in a great location at a reasonable price. I would stay here again.
Perfect for skiers/boarders…
I stayed in the the dorm, the shower/bathrooms in there are fine, BTW. Walk to EVERYTHING easily…that feature alone makes this place rule. You come to hit the slopes,
or show off your “fine” taste in lodging? Right, the snow/mountains are why you’re here, so stay at this place and save money for more lift tickets!

I’ve stayed at the Chateau four times for Sundance, twice in the dorms until I found roommates for the following two years. I love the laid-back environment — people chill out around the fire every night, it’s really communal — and the rustic surroundings, and how it’s close enough to Main Street but not so close you can’t get away from the craziness of the festival. I can’t afford the trip to Sundance this year, but if I could I’d be staying at the Chateau. (And big ups on not gouging during the festival!)

I stayed at Chateau Apres the week after Christmas and had a really great time. Was made very welcome as arrived late one evening and the location of Chateau Apres is awesome. Very close to all three Park City resorts and the dorms were great, cheap, continental breakfast just perfect in morning before skiing and was just what I was looking for. would come back again, no problem. snow was good and made up for bad first week in holiday, Chateau Apres rocks!!!!

We just left after a week’s stay. I was a little concerned because I read a review about inadequate parking. That criticism proved unfounded. The reviewer was talking about parking during the Olympics. We had a rental car and never had any problems finding a spot. In fact, most of the time we parked right next to the front door.
The breakfast is simple but ample. It saved us a lot of time, and I enjoyed chatting with the other guests. Ed and Jason are friendly and helpful. There wasn’t a single request they did not accommodate.
I was very pleased with the value Chateau Apres afforded. With the money we saved staying there, we took a side trip to go snowmobiling and a balloon ride.

Chateau Apres is an excellent choice for those opting for stay in Park City. Very good Continental breakfast with an extraordinary room service is unexplainable. Knowledge about the local transport and places by the Manager Jason helped me lot during the stay. I can say Chateau Apres is simply superb and best for those staying in Park city at cheapest rate.

I have now stayed at Chateau Apres 5 or 6 times – initially in the dorm and the last couple of visits in a room, and I love the place. Everyone seems to mention ‘no frills’ and they’re right, but the lodge has real charm, perfect location and great staff. Folks – enjoy it while you can. One day there’ll be a Marriott on this site, and you’ll have to take out a separate mortgage to stay there.

I stayed at the Chateau this christmas and thoroughly loved the atmosphere. People were so friendly and I felt I was spending the holidays with a real family, unlike my dysfunctional one. I wish they would extend the breakfast hours to past 9 AM. We only came from the East Coast and it was hard for the the kids to get up early especially after staying up all night watching TV. The only thing that was harder than trying to ski the McConkey Bowl was when a very heavy family from New York checked into their room above us at 2 AM and proceeded to play football in the room wearing steel braces on their legs. Or at least that’s what it sounded like to me. But normally it’s very quiet
